Environmental Policy

The Exhibition / Event industry has traditionally been guilty of being very wasteful — constructing structures and interiors that typically are in place for a few days before being taken down again and in most cases just thrown away. Nowadays in these environmentally friendly times, this is quite rightly seen as unacceptable. In tandem with the advance of the environmental movement, customers have developed much higher expectations of design and build quality as they see it as a reflection their own company’s standards. High quality materials and standards of workmanship are therefore now the norm which in turn greatly increases the possibilities to re-use.

Here at Lea International we actively encourage our clients to plan their event strategy at least 1 — 2 years in advance so that we can propose designs which are suitable for re-use at all their events during that time. This approach has substantial benefits to the client in that they can spread the initial build costs over a period of time, budget more efficiently and achieve a continuity of look across shows. But most importantly of all of course, it greatly benefits the environment by avoiding unnecessary waste and to this end we are investing in larger storage facilities.

Our policy now is to design with re-use in mind — whether it is a new proposal or an on-going project, we strive to achieve a good balance of creativity and reusability, designing bespoke concepts which are cutting edge and modular in construction.

All Lea International staff are constantly encouraged to consider the local and wider environment during their daily activities on company premises and out on-site; finding ways to re-use and re-cycle, endeavouring to specify biodegradable and sustainable products, minimising transport, taking care of existing properties, reducing noise and saving energy wherever possible.
